Del Duca Blasts Ford Over Education Plan

ESSEX, ON – The Financial Accountability Office (FAO) of Ontario says Doug Ford’s cuts to education will mean 10,000 fewer teachers.

“Doug Ford said that no teacher would lose their job,” said Ontario Liberal Leadership Candidate Steven Del Duca. “The facts are in and Ford lied – he is going to rip 10,000 teachers out of classrooms in Ontario.”

“In 15 months, Ford has thrown Ontario’s education system into chaos. Students are unable to take math and science courses due to cuts, labour unrest is on the horizon, students are dropping out of university due to OSAP cuts, and custodians are working to rule.”

“The FAO report is very clear: there will be 10,000 fewer teachers in our classrooms. Ontario families deserve better than this.”

“Doug Ford locked the doors of the Legislature to avoid accountability. He is staying out of sight during the federal election so his disastrous government doesn’t hurt his best friend, Andrew Scheer.”

“When you elect Conservative politicians, you get cuts. Cuts to healthcare and education hurt the economy, and today’s report from the FAO confirmed exactly that,” finished Del Duca.

The Ontario Liberal Party will choose its next leader on March 7th, 2020. Del Duca was the first candidate to register and pay the full $100,000 party registration fee. He has received over 150 endorsements and has visited over 100 communities across the province.
