Statement on LEM Weekend

Feb 10, 20

TORONTO, ON – Ontario Liberal Leadership Candidate Steven Del Duca released the following statement:
This weekend, thousands of Ontarians voted to choose the next leader of the Ontario Liberal Party.

Tonight, after carefully evaluating the results, I am truly humbled by the vote of confidence I have received from our party membership.

I want to thank the volunteers who made this weekend possible and who worked long hours to staff voting stations all over the province. The Ontario Liberal Party and its staff worked hard to make the process run as smoothly as possible.

My own team worked tirelessly as well, and I am proud of everything they achieved. In ridings across the province volunteers knocked on doors, made calls, and drove voters to vote.

To everyone who worked for a different leadership candidate this weekend: thank you for your hard work and commitment to our party. Our party needs you to stay involved and I will not let you down.

I also want to thank every member who participated this weekend. You are the lifeblood of our party.

The Ontario leadership race has been rigorous, and I want to congratulate my fellow candidates on running impressive and innovative campaigns. Every candidate contributed meaningfully and inspired Ontarians to join our party – recruitment soared across the province.

Ontario Liberals will come together in March to formally decide on our next leader. My priority is to continue to work relentlessly, as I have since day one, to ensure our Party is energized and united, and focused on the task that lies ahead. We must defeat Doug Ford in 2022 so that we can invest in public education, public health care, economic prosperity and our environment.

I am running to be Premier of Ontario because my two daughters do not deserve to grow up in an Ontario led by Doug Ford. They, and millions of Ontarians, deserve better.
